Zombie - the body of a dead person, which is returned to "life", so to speak, by a voodoo sorcerer. The zombie isn't truly alive, however. It can move but it exists without a soul or any sort of mind, having been created merely to serve the will of its master.

Voodoo, or vodoun, was created by slaves brought to Haiti from Africa during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
